The Morning Sentinel is the center of gravity for a group of community newspapers across four counties. Our shared newsroom operates as a single entity, supporting community weeklies, anchored by a pair of dailies.

Responsibilities:

1. Editorial Leadership: Lead the editorial team in planning, assigning, and producing content that engages and informs our audience.
2. Newsroom Management: Manage day-to-day operations of the newsroom, including scheduling, content budgeting, and resource allocation.
3. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including advertising, marketing, and audience development, to align content with organizational goals.
4. Community Engagement: Foster relationships with readers, community leaders, and stakeholders to better understand local issues and perspectives.
5. Lead by Example: Write engaging news and feature stories of local and regional interest.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in journalism. Talented reporters ready to step into leadership encouraged to apply!
• Strong editorial judgment and news sense, with a keen eye for storytelling and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Photography and page design chops are definite plusses!
