The Dispatch-Argus is seeking a full time page designer. The position is suited for a person with a strong command of English, grammar and journalistic style, with a general understanding of political, economic and social events, with work samples that demonstrate superior design skills. Commitment to journalism, a willingness to continually improve, and an ability to build solid, professional relationships in a highly-collaborative, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, are all musts. The job is responsible for editing and designing attractive, reader-focused pages for daily newspapers using Adobe InDesign. Execute design solutions that result in reader satisfaction through strong headlines and good page design. Error-free editing of stories, cutlines, graphics and headlines. Collaborate in planning and developing story content targeted at enhancing reader appeal. Successful candidate will have a college degree in journalism or related area or commensurate job experience, ability to thrive in a daily deadline atmosphere, learn and effectively use current computer production software. Expected work schedule: 40 hours/week working a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
